How To Send Digital Photos To Your Photography Clients

You have been sharing your photography images with your clients via burning CDs, flash drives, or Dropbox. You know there has to be a better and more convenient way to send your photos than that. But you aren’t sure how to do it.

Sharing your digital images with your photography clients is one of the most important aspects of running a photography business and ensures you look professional.

When I first started out, I used to spend so much money and time on burning CDs. When I was done editing a session, I would contact my client and then we would have to figure out a time to meet so I could give them their CD, because it really didn’t make sense to pay to have it sent in the mail since all my clients lived within 30 minutes of me. It really just became a hassle. Then I moved on to flash drives, but that still didn’t eliminate the time it took to agree on a time, and meet.

I knew there had to be a better way. I started looking into how to send digital images to my clients.

Dropbox crossed my mind as an option to send my photos digitally, but it was lacking the opportunity to grow with me as a business. I was doing weddings at the time, so the cost of paying for the space to store high resolution images, and send a lot of digital images at once, was very important to me.

Not only was I wasting time and money with CDs, flash drives and Dropbox, I was wasting time with print orders. I know there are photographers out there that swear by the IPS business model, but at that time, I was working a full time job, both my kids were in sports, and I was fully booked. I did not have the time for In Person Sales for prints. I needed something that was going to allow me to upsell my photography, as well as give my clients the ability to choose photography prints in their own time.

I came across a free trial for Pixieset

I joined, and never looked back! I had found my saving grace! Pixieset is one of the most affordable, and user friendly digital photo sharing platforms out there. Here is a general overview of why I love this digital photo sharing platform:

I love that I can send my clients their high resolution digital images via email! Depending on how you run your photography business, you have the option to turn on downloading or not. Now, I will tell you that yes, there have been some instances where clients were getting excited and grabbing screenshots of the images and posting them on social media. I have since put that to a stop by sending them an email just before I send them their digital album, reminding them that they signed a contract, as well as reminding them what they can and can not do with the digital images.

The images are sent to them in this beautiful and organized high quality display that allows them the option to share straight from the album to their social media platforms.

Make Money Long After Your Sessions With Pixieset

With a photo sharing platform, you have the ability to set up a print store. I love that because I don’t ever have to deal with print orders again. The print store is laid out for them with the product options I have given them along with the prices. Of course you have to go in and do a markup of your overhead prices, but Pixieset provides a template for you to work from.

The one thing I do as soon as I send my clients their album is give them a special discount code to order prints with. I do set a time limit on that code so it ensures that they order right away.

For holidays like Christmas and even special events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I’ll send out even deeper discounts on prints!

I would also like to point out that you have the option to create a mobile app just for your clients. This is something that you could upcharge after the session. No, you don't have to code anything to build the app. All you have to do is select a checkbox telling Pixieset that you would like a mobile app for a particular session/album! It is created for you and all you have to do is send the link!

Your client adds the app to their home screen on their smart device. When they are at a family gathering, or at the office, all they have to do is open the app and there is their album ready to show off the beautiful images you took for them!

Five Professional Print Labs to Choose From

One of the best things that Pixieset offers is 5 professional print labs to choose from. It drove me nuts when I heard of my clients taking their images to places like Walgreens or Walmart to get their prints. I know, they can save money. BUT, I also can not give them a guarantee that their prints will last. With these professional print labs, you can guarantee your clients that their prints are made with archival quality print paper that will last a lifetime.

It Works With Your Business Model

No two photographers are the same. What works for some, does not work for all. I know there are some photographers that charge for each individual digital image. Others include a specific amount in their packages and after that limit, then they charge for extra digitals. Whatever your business model is, Pixieset can accommodate any of them.

Website

Photographers wear many hats. Website builder may not be one of them. Pixieset recently added the ability to create a website within the same platform. You have the ability to show off all of your amazing images, inform potential clients of your process and pricing, and get to know you, and love you!

You even have the option to add a blog to this site! I wish I had learned a lot sooner how important having a blog could be for getting found by potential clients!

Overall I have found Pixieset to be one of the best tools I could ever have for my photography business. It saves time, it’s flexible to my needs, and in general, makes myself and my business look good!
