T-Shirts

Create t-shirts with your business name and information on them. Do a simple giveaway for a free t-shirt! Who doesn’t love t-shirts and free!

Giveaway

Partner with a local business to do a giveaway. Have a box or a jar with the description of what you do, a couple of your best images, where you are located,  what they are entering to win, and when they can expect to hear from you if they are a winner. You can make the graphics for this in Picmonkey or Canva.  Any time someone goes into that business, they fill out a slip of paper with their name and contact information. After a couple weeks, go into that business to collect the entries and then draw a name. Bonus if that business is willing to give a % off to the winner as well. For the ones that did not win, you could still email them a consolation prize just for entering. Maybe 10% off a booked session.

Mini Session

Come up with an extremely unique mini session idea. Mini sessions are typically 20 - 30 minutes. After the session, pass out 10% off coupons for a fully booked session that either they can use later, or give to a friend. Or you can pass out two, one for them, one for a friend. You can easily make these with Canva templates!

Email Marketing

Not many photographers implement email marketing in their business and they should be. Social media is free for the most part, but you should never rely on them to book clients. Like Myspace, Google +, and Vine, any social media platform could be gone tomorrow. Email marketing was being used long before social media was a thing. And there is zero indication of it going anywhere. You can read more about email marketing and getting started in this post. It is a great way to send out sales and specials that you have, as well as share your recent work.

Business Cards

With this digital age, you may have forgotten about this simple strategy. Business cards, like email marketing, will never go away. They don’t need to be extravagant, and can be created in Picmonkey and Canva.

Free Images

If you have kids, or even friends that have kids, go to their sporting events and take pictures. Dance recitals, karate classes, etc. Post them on your page, and share them with the organization. Always ask permission before you do this.

Welcome Packet

Create and print a welcome packet with example images, and information about your business. Ask local businesses that are in your niche if you can leave them on their checkout counters.

Display Your Work

Ask local businesses if you can display your work on their walls. Even offer to take some images of their location. Medical offices typically have artwork hanging in their waiting rooms and offices.

VIP Program

If you don’t already have one, create a VIP program. Create specials and perks that only the VIP members would get access too. Exclusive session times, discounts, free product or prints. Everyone feels special when they know they are apart of something exclusive.

Instagram Contest

Create a branded hashtag specifically for this. For example, #yourstudiophotocontest. Have your followers post their best image, but a requirement is to use that hashtag, and tag you in the image. Pick a winner and give them a free session, print credit, or a free print.
