20 Places to Find Wedding Photography Clients

Finding wedding photography clients can be a bit more challenging as opposed to finding family photography clients. But it obviously can be done. Being consistent and showing up daily on social media can be a big help, but there are other strategies that you can use to help you gain more wedding photography clients.

With these particular 12 places, you can use the same strategy for all of them. All of these vendors or services have one main thing in common with you! Weddings!

One thing I used to do when I shot a lot of weddings was I would go around to different vendors or wedding service providers, and collect business cards. I would also leave my business cards with them.

I would create a little gift bag for my wedding clients and after signing our contract I would give them this gift bag. It was filled with coupons, business cards, and small free samples from each business. My clients loved it! It really helped them when they were having a hard time deciding who to go with for a service.

Word of mouth from a trusted source can go a long way!

Trade or Vendor Shows

Twice per year there are vendor shows at a convention center near where I live. You can rent a booth, display your work and hand out information to engaged couples looking for services.

Currently Booked Weddings

Everyone usually knows someone that is engaged. If you have a current engaged couple that has booked your services, you can offer them discounted prints, wedding album, or products if they refer you to other engaged couples and they book you

Run a Contest

  • There are so many ways you can do this:

  • Have the engaged couple describe their perfect wedding, choose a winner.

  • Ask them to share the story of how they got engaged, choose a winner.

  • Do you have a silly photo from a wedding you have shot? Post it and ask for your audience to caption it. Choose a random winner.

Bridal Magazines

There are a lot of magazines out there that look for contributors for content. Check out local wedding magazines in your area and see if you can submit your work.

Social Media Groups

This one you really do need to read the rules of your local facebook groups. A lot of them do have a rule that you can’t advertise. You can use other platforms like the Nextdoor app.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is something you should be setting up soon after starting your photography business. This is a great way to send out weekly or monthly newsletters to your clients and potential clients to keep you on their radar. They may not need your services at that moment, but will keep your name in mind for future reference. You can use a platform like Mailerlite. It is very user friendly and free for up to 1,000 subscribers!

Blogging

Blogging is not a quick result, however it is a great way to get found. Make sure to blog every wedding and put as many details as you can in your articles. As well as locations! This is the main way you get found! When potential clients are searching for your services on Google, the key words that you have used in your posts will show up on Google.

If you aren’t sure what to write about, check out this super helpful tool from BP4U, a fill in the blank blog form. It's a questionnaire that you send to your clients, they fill it out and send it back to you. So they basically wrote your article for you!
